Elisabeth J. Kelly is an 11th generation Cape Codder who attended Pratt Institute in New York City and Corcoran Museum School in Washington, DC. She has lived and studied in Mexico, the Virgin Islands, Santa Fe, NM, and the Outer Banks of NC. Back on the Cape, she is home and working at her Boat House Gallery.
Stephen Hopkins, my 8th great grandfather, journeyed to Cape Cod on the Mayflower after his second trip to the New World. I inherited from him the same spirit of travel and appreciation of home.
My passion for photography and experience with illustration have merged to tell many tales through my photographic illustrations. I am excited to share with others the spark of recognition and memories recalled through my images. They can bring one back to a simpler and easier time; so personal and intimate that each glimpse will bring one closer to a new, yet familiar world.
My collection can be a daily reminder of our true priorities and what may be absent from our lives. It can also make you smile, and for a different reason each time.
Just as there are different ingredients to a recipe, the same is true in blending my images and digital techniques. This process begins with an idea, which is given birth through a camera lens. Mixed computer elements are used to enhance some of the images while simple black and white or sepia tones are adopted in others. I am well known for the endless hours I spend on a single idea. My creative recipe will never be the same as someone else's. It all depends on each person's perspective and history. None are the same.
